monster marrows

marrow - massive measured lengthwaysMarrows are often referred to as oversized courgettes so what do you call an oversized marrow? (apart from massive, huge or ginormous? – I’m never sure if the latter is a real word but I like how it adds a whole new dimension to supersized objects).  A lot can happen in a week away from the plot and with torrential rain and courgette plants being firm friends the end result was inevitable; monster marrows.  I had to borrow a wheelbarrow to get my haul to the car and am still trying to decide what to do with this beast as it doesn’t fit in the fridge or the oven whole.  It would seem a huge indignity to just chop it up.
