Nic sizing up sunflowersWe left Germany yesterday after 6 days of scorching sunshine to find Britain still under a perpetual rain cloud.  So for now I can only speculate what difference a week has made down at the plot: the day before we left my sunflowers were beginning to lift their heads, the pumpkins were plentiful and the raspberries and runner beans were still teeming with produce.pumpkin harvest 25-08-09

Yum, I can almost taste those raspberries! I used to grow giant sunflowers and adore them, they are so silly and make me smile, but I am not sure they’d survive the wind we get up here.
