A tray of seedlings carefully tended and ready for transplanting is a welcome gift to a gardener without a greenhouse or windowsills. Dave has two greenhouses at home, 2.5 plots at the allotment, lots of experience and a very generous heart. Walking past Dave’s plot on my way home I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve stopped for a chat and been offered exactly what I’d made a mental note of getting for next time or had left too late to sow. I have Dave to thank for several of the vegetables* in my garden and with people like him generously sharing plants, tips and encouragement it’s no wonder there’s a long waiting list for plots.
* other donations from Dave this year; kohl rabi, cabbages, onion sets, valour potatoes, kale
This is what makes an allotment lovely, lovely neighbours.
