OXO Tot big kid water bottle

A baby?  No a big kid now we’ve found the perfect water bottle!CUP - 24-7-13 - New Oxotot cup

We’ve been through lots of different drinking cups and bottles over the last year.  We still use E’s first Tommee Tippee sippy cup at meal times but it’s off limits when he’s roaming around with it’s free flow spout ready to splatter wherever his hand happens to fly.  The Nuby grip and sip cup was abandoned after one try when the silicone spout required E to clamp down to open it and being a quick learner he applied this same technique the next time he breastfed!Cups

Next to be discarded was the Munchkin no spill cup with a straw.  It lived up to it’s ‘no spill’ claim precisely because it required the suction of an octopus to get anything out of it at all!  I asked other mums for recommendations but it seemed we were all on a bit of a holy grail to find the perfect drinking cup from the limited range in the shops (and not trusting on-line shopping for something so important).CUP - E playing in cup cupboard

Discovering the OXO Tot range has been a godsend – E is drinking much more now and our floors, walls and cats have been saved from splatterings.  I’ve not seen OXO Tot products in shops in Gloucester but feel so persuaded by the quality of their designs that I wouldn’t be put off having to buy them on-line.  Cup - Oxo Tots

This twist top water bottle is from OXO Tot big kid range and marketed as suitable from 2 years (guessing this is when little hands may be able to twist the top themselves).  E has been using his quite happily as a 1.5 year old and it lives up to it’s claim of being non-spill while having an easy suck soft straw.  The non-slip handle is great for very grabable for little fingers and attaching it to the buggy so you always have it to hand (and doesn’t get lost when discarded with gay abandon).   The large opening makes filling, cleaning and adding ice easy and the lid twists closed to keep the straw clean when not in use.   Best of all it holds 350ml and is made of BPA free materials.
E never leaves home without his big kid bottle now!

I quite agree with you Nic. Trying to find a suitable cup for B has been very expensive. I must have a cupboard full so I will try out one of these x

How did you hear about them Nic? I’ve entered the competition but would like a green one but can’t see them for sale anywhere

I saw a post about an Oxotots bowl on another mum’s blog so contacted them with my cup woes and asked (maybe begged!) to have a bottle to review! Fingers crossed Wendy you won’t need to buy a bottle but if you’re not a competition winner here’s the link to their website. At the bottom of the page is a store locator link – for Gloucester it says Dunelm Mill but obviously can’t be sure which of the 200 products they stock. Otherwise here’s their Amazon shop page – looks like green is not available at the mo

Sue – aw thanks lovely. E’s a very compliant model!

Rachel – it’ll be money well spent and I can vouch for toughness too as E’s dropped it a couple of times and no sign of damage yet!

Morgan – you’ll not be disappointed – bet your E will look as cute as my E with his cute sucky cheeks

[…] cup yet (although the force of the impact which is stronger than a sip does make the floor wet). Our big boy E took to using his blue OXO Good Grips twist top bottle when he was 1.5 years old.  L already loves the green one too, mastering the straw at just 9 months old!  The OXO Good […]
