this day

This day.  1994.   ‘Yes’ the answer.  ‘Will you be my girlfriend?’ the question.
And the rest as they say is history.

It all began with shy glances across the room at a birthday party. Followed by a date to see Rebel without a Cause at the local Picture House. A mix tape made for an anxious train journey. Her postcard. His note though the door to welcome her back.

Love in the 90s was punctuated with handwritten letters, fish finger sandwiches and entire days spent listening to music and talking. Love in 2014 is photos of their son sent between phones to brighten work days. Talking in the dark after midnight when an entire day has passed with barely a glimpse of each other. Smiling silently at one another as their son plays on the floor between them. 20 years on, with a new understanding of what it means to make each other happy, love is counting their blessings and still enjoying the occasional fish finger sandwich!

re your “Rebel without a cause”; one of the smartest decisions in his life when he decided you were a good cause.

Lunch served on a bed of allotment grown lettuce to make up for the distinct lack of a certain green ingredient from my Greek Salad (I can't really call it that anyway as I can't resist adding balsamic vinegar). #nipitinthebudblog #gloucesterlife

Fathers Day came and went with G having to work away for the day and me being busy with the boys at my parents. So I didn't get the chance to say what a brilliant, supportive and kind Father and husband G is. This is Luca at 4 days old snugged into his Dad's hoody when I was too ill with an infection to hold him We were cup feeding him expressed milk because he had a tongue tie and couldn't nurse. Hard times are always made easier with @musicalgeorgemoorey by my side. #nipitinthebudblog #coparentingdad #gloucesterlife

Day 16 of #30dayswild - reading nature stories at bedtime. One of E's favourites 'The winter hedgehog'.
